Case Study:
Tokyo Streets

As a majority of FrankNDesign's work remains confidential, we developed our "Tokyo Streets" case study project to illustrate our documentation process, showcase our capabilities as designers, and demonstrate the attention to detail that we bring to all of our clients' projects.

In particular, this project features our ability to distill the character of a place into its discrete component parts. We completed an extensive research effort and then used our creative insight to design, model, and document this hypothetical project using the FrankNDesign process.

All of our production work on this effort stemmed directly from a catalog of first hand experience from traveling to Japan, reference imagery depicting the formal and informal built environment in Tokyo, and in-house conceptual design sketches.

This case study project serves as an example of the quality, resourcefulness, and expertise that FrankNDesign brings to every project.

We design, model, and document each individual component of a project in one place. This allows us to consider both the micro and macro scales of all elements and their relationships to one another to ensure that the creative vision is followed, understood, and eventually executed on site.

Site plan

Collaborate digitally with creatives, architects, engineers, and general contractors in real-time.
Our integrated models allow teams to assess a concept from multiple perspectives and anticipate issues before anything is ever built. Through our advanced use of BIM, you can visualize and trust that production between disciplines is coordinated, consistent, and self-referential.

Multidisciplinary model views are valuable aids for coordination, planning, and problem solving

Scope of work coordination as seen from a guests' perspective

Visualize project wide scope interactions from any perspective.

We create visualizations and diagrams that help to tell the full story of ongoing coordination as each project moves through the design process. Our models help highlight any scope gaps to reduce costly change orders during construction.
The FrankNDesign team used the Tokyo Streets case study project to develop and showcase an example of the level of detail and design clarity we achieve when documenting our clients' projects.
Better data. Better decisions.
All of our 3D models are embedded with the critical data you need to make better decisions. Know the quantity, size, and location of every asset in the model in real-time, and see the impact of design decisions reflected in both our intelligent, data rich schedules and in the three dimensional digital project environment.

Our models make sense of all the relevant data to help decision makers lead their teams

Intelligent models can be updated with the simple click of button to adapt to any design intent

Documenting the information you need.
We document complex elements in unique ways using a combination of 2D and 3D drawing methods. This allows for our clients, the creative design teams, and, the fabricators that we work with to easily understand, communicate, and agree on the final design.

Schedules use the addition of 3D modeled elements to facilitate clear communication

At FrankNDesign, our documentation and visualization models are one and the same. The same models can be leveraged for renderings, animations, animatics, and other marketing uses to allow stakeholders or the public to experience the creative vision before anything is ever built.
